What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a type of mind-body intervention that leverages hypnosis. Hypnosis is a natural state of consciousness that we enter many times in our daily lives. Hypnosis is like a hypnotic-trance that we're in, when for example, we are so engrossed listening to music or reading a book, that we do not hear someone call our name. We are not aware of our body and our mind is very focused.

The hypnotic trance is a natural and effective way of making contact with the inner-self, the unconscious mind, where the cause of many of our issues, habits are rooted. The unconscious mind is also a tremendous reservoir of unrecognised strengths, creativity and potential.

How does Hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to relieve physiological symptoms, change behaviours, and thought patterns, deliver positive suggestions directly to the subconscious and tap into our unknown resources to enhance existing talents and uncover new potentials.

The suggestions to your unconscious mind and techniques used will be devised according to your needs, goals, and history and follow a moral and ethical framework to promote positive enhancements. Hypnotherapy works fast and can be powerful because it bypasses the conscious mind that often sabotages or blocks positive, effective change in our life.

What to expect from a session:

The clinical hypnotherapist will initially spend time with you discussing what you would like help with and you will be asked further questions regarding your lifestyle, medical history and any other relevant information in order to build a ‘case history’. This will then form the basis of a treatment plan that is devised and agreed by you and the therapist. It is important that you are involved in this process so that you feel comfortable with how the therapy is going to proceed. The therapist will also teach tools to take away, which will allow you to take control of your emotional and physical well-being.
